What is in the frame
The car sits against a seamless studio backdrop, bluish at the top and light grey below, with a soft transition between. A broad overhead light leaves a single highlight running the length of the body. There is a soft shadow underneath — the car rests on the floor rather than hovering above it.
The camera sits slightly low. In automotive presentation that angle makes a vehicle read as wider and more planted.
The hard part
Paint. A car body is not a flat colour but a surface that steers light. The colour has to deepen moving from bonnet to door and open up across the arch of a wing. AI usually produces the vehicle as a flatly painted model; what was wanted here was that highlight running unbroken along the whole body.
Glass second. A windscreen has to reflect and also partly reveal the interior. Fully black glass reads as a scale model; too much transparency demands a consistently generated cabin behind it.
And the wheels: the symmetry of a rotational form is among the details AI breaks reliably.
Where we shoot, where we generate
Automotive studio photography is a craft. The light rig that wraps the body, millimetre control of reflection, the sheer cleanliness of the car — that is years of work and the result cannot be imitated. A brand’s launch image is made this way.
AI has two clear places here. First, colour: seeing the same car in eight body finishes does not require eight studio bookings. Second, a car that does not exist yet — there is nothing to photograph at the concept stage.
A third use is replacing the environment behind real footage. The vehicle stays real; the surroundings are generated.
