What is in the frame

A street corner. Behind it, a modern apartment facade broken into white and dark grey panels — shopfront glazing at ground level, balconies and shutters above. A single tree stands in front of the facade, its leaves bright green in the sun.

In the foreground, empty asphalt, white crossing markings and a band of cobblestone enter the frame. There is no one in the scene. The light is afternoon; the shadows are long and soft.

The hard part

An empty scene leaves nowhere to hide a mistake. With no person, no movement and no narrative, the viewer's eye goes straight to the geometry: window alignments, the spacing of balconies, the pattern in the paving. Let one of those slip and the scene reads as wrong without the viewer being able to say why.

Perspective was where most of the work went. As the facade narrows going up, the windows have to narrow at the same rate, and the crossing markings have to converge as they recede.

Then there is the range of surfaces. Render, glass, asphalt and cobblestone reflect light in completely different ways, and the same sun had to behave consistently across all four.

Where we shoot, where we generate

This scene is not a product, it is a backdrop. It was built to sit under voice-over, graphics or a brand message inside a corporate film; on its own it makes no claim.

Nothing replaces shooting a real building on location. Permits, waiting for the right hour of the day, watching for the traffic to thin — all of it means going out on site, and the result carries that effort.

Generation earns its place where booking a separate shoot day for a ten-second transition inside a corporate film would be out of proportion. The principal footage is shot on location; the connective scenes between it are produced here.

Where this is useful
