About the Film

A ten-second studio fashion film for NMW. Seamless backdrop, one model, the garment at the centre.

What is in the frame

The model wears a light grey semi-sheer off-shoulder top with pale blue wide-leg denim and silver heels. The backdrop is off-white and seamless. The pose is seated, the body turned away from camera, the look coming back over the shoulder.

The light is broad and soft — no hard shadow on the face, but enough contrast in the folds of the fabric. In studio fashion the goal is to light the garment without flattening it.

The hard part

Semi-sheer fabric. The mesh has to let the skin through while still holding the shape of the body underneath. With fabrics like this AI tends to either produce a fully opaque surface or lose the form beneath it entirely.

Denim carries the opposite problem. Its texture is pronounced, so AI generates it easily — but the seam lines regularly vanish or go inconsistent down the leg. How a wide leg breaks in a seated pose is the detail that gives away whether a garment is real.

The silver shoe was the third difficulty: a metallic surface reflects where the studio lights are, and that reflection had to agree with the backdrop.

Where we shoot, where we generate

Only a real shoot shows how a collection actually falls. How the fabric moves, where the seam sits, how it reads on a body — a fashion customer looks at exactly those, and return rates follow from them. Campaign and catalogue work is done on set for that reason.

AI belongs at scale. A forty-piece collection needs styling options, backdrop colours and model types considered piece by piece. When that exploration happens visually, the crew arrives on set with a much clearer plan.

There is also the route of generating variants from real footage: the same frame reissued against a different backdrop or in a different seasonal palette. The source stays real; the multiplication is generated.

Where this is useful

We produce lookbooks, e-commerce imagery and social content for fashion and apparel brands. Once a consistent AI model identity is established, the brand face can stay the same while the collection changes.
