About the Film

A ten-second brand film for SHAPE OF YOU — a complete opening, with logo, title and a transformation scene.

What is in the frame

The film opens on white. A symmetrical butterfly with blue, purple and orange wings sits at the centre. As the wings open the butterfly scatters and gives way to flowers thrown outward — pink, yellow, orange, purple. The logo and brand name resolve above.

The white background is a requirement rather than a preference: for the transformation to read, nothing can be in the frame except the butterfly and the flowers.

The hard part

Symmetry. A butterfly wing is only convincing when each half mirrors the other. AI generates pattern freely; making the orange marking on the left wing appear exactly on the right takes deliberate work.

The transformation itself was second. The move from butterfly to flowers was built as a dispersal rather than a cut. In transitions like this the in-between frames easily collapse into blur; every stage had to still resemble something.

Third, typography. The logo and lettering were placed over the generated footage afterwards — AI-generated text is not legible, and a brand name has to be exactly right.

Where we shoot, where we generate

The real-shoot equivalent here would be macro nature photography: framing a butterfly and catching the moment its wings open. It is doable — but you do not get to decide when the butterfly opens them.

Brand openers usually need a particular feeling rather than a particular image. Describing that feeling and iterating on it is where AI is genuinely good.

Typography and logo work is not left to AI — that is design, placed by hand. This film was assembled that way.
