About the Film

A ten-second product video for a shower loofah. The product is held in a pair of hands — and those hands are generated too.

What is in the frame

Two hands hold a cream mesh shower loofah toward the camera, a small brand tag stitched to it. Behind them, a wet dark green metro-tile wall. Water sits in droplets on both skin and tile.

There is no face in the frame — only hands and forearms. In personal care that is a common choice: the viewer puts themselves in those hands rather than watching a specific model.

The hard part

Hands. AI’s best-known weakness, sitting in the centre of the frame. Finger count, joint direction, nail shape — all of it had to be right at once. On top of that the hands are holding an object, so the fingers had to conform to its shape. This was the part of the video that took the most attempts.

Then water. Wet skin and wet tile behave differently: skin beads, glazed tile runs. Both had to behave in their own way inside the same shot.

Where we shoot, where we generate

The product’s own photography is shot for real. The true colour, true size and true texture of a loofah — the customer has to find the same thing when the box opens.

The moment of use is a different need. Building a wet set, casting hand models and resetting between every take is a separate job from photographing the product itself. Generating scenes like this leaves the shoot time for the product.

In practice the two combine: real product photography on the e-commerce page, generated usage scenes on social.

Where this is useful

We produce in-use content for personal care, cosmetics and household goods. How a product sits in a hand directly affects how its size is understood online.
