About the Film
Schlepper — at over five minutes, the longest AI short in the portfolio. A step into AI narrative cinema with real character and world-building.
What is in the film
An endless sea of sand. Dunes roll across two thirds of the frame; the horizon is pale and hazy and the sky has turned the colour of copper. The light arrives at a very low angle, leaving one face of every dune lit and the other in full shadow.
A single spot of green sits in the foreground — a small plant in the sand, the only living trace in the scene. A film running over five minutes opens on that emptiness.
The hard part
Five minutes makes this the longest piece in the portfolio, and the duration is the difficulty in itself. In short form it is enough to hold a scene up; here the narrative itself has to be carried — the character staying the same from beginning to end, the location holding together, the light moving with the time of the story.
Sand is a harder surface than it looks. From a distance it reads as one mass of colour, but it is millions of grains that both reflect light and take it in. The hard line along the crest of a dune and the soft transition on its shadow side had to be right at the same time; lose either and the desert starts to look like draped cloth.
Scale is the third problem. In an empty landscape the only thing that conveys size is reference. That small plant is not incidental — it is the single marker telling the viewer how large these dunes are.
Why we make films like this
This is the most ambitious piece in the portfolio and it was not made for a brand. The question behind it: can a five-minute narrative be carried this way, or does the technology only convince in short fragments?
Short form lets a flaw hide; the scene ends before the viewer notices. Across five minutes that is not possible, which is exactly why we kept it long.
What we learned about character and world-building moves directly into long-form brand work. Remaining an experiment in narrative filmmaking is fine too; the real gain is knowing where the limit sits.
For work like this
We work on long-form concepts, festival pieces and narrative development. Five minutes is enough to build a world and tell a story inside it.
