About the Film
A period film of roughly two minutes. A crowded street market, mist, wet stone — all of it generated.
What is in the film
A street market with a nineteenth-century feel. Wet cobblestones, a misted white sky. Stalls on both sides: bread, fish, cloth. Gas lamps are lit and small bulbs hang above the counters.
In the foreground a boy in a flat cap crouches, looking at something in his hand. Around him figures in coats and hats are shopping; nobody looks at the camera.
There are more than fifteen figures in the frame at once. That is an unusual crowd for AI video.
The hard part
The crowd. Every figure needs its own clothing, its own posture and its own errand. When AI generates crowds the figures start resembling each other or merging into one another. The people in the background had to look like they had something to do.
Second, period consistency. Clothing, stall construction, lamp types and street surface all had to belong to the same era. A single modern detail breaks the whole scene.
Third, atmosphere. Mist softens light and drains distance; wet stone reflects. The depth of the scene depended on balancing the two — too much mist and the background disappears, too little and the scene goes flat.
Why we make films like this
Period work is the most demanding category in production: costume, extras, set dressing, location. On a real period shoot, the world a crew builds carries a texture generated footage does not reach.
We made this film to see how far the same atmosphere could be constructed with AI. What we learned about managing crowded scenes is used on brand work that needs a crowd.
For work like this
We produce brand films that need period atmosphere and narrative. Hybrid work is common: real performers inside a generated environment.
