Yekpare — a ninety-second AI short film. A form-driven piece that flows as a single whole.

What is in the film

The word YEKPARE stands at the centre of a black field in heavy letters that look carved from stone. The surfaces are rough and the edges hard; light arrives from the left and leaves each letter its own shadow to the right.

A thin vertical shaft of light rises from beneath the word — the only movement in the frame. There is no other object, figure or location in the scene.

The hard part

Holding ninety seconds on an almost empty frame is harder than holding it on a full one. With nowhere else for the eye to go, a single flaw stays on screen for the entire duration.

The letter surface is the centre of the work. For stone to read as stone, the pore, the fracture and the wear along an edge all have to agree; at the wrong scale the material reads as foam instead. The space between the letters is a typographic decision too — break the spacing and the word stops being one piece, which is precisely the opposite of what its name says.

The shaft of light is the third problem. It had to become visible by striking particles in the air without spilling across the letters and washing them out.

Why we make films like this

This is a study in form. No narrative, no character, no product — one word and the material it is made of.

The question we set ourselves: with nothing happening, can texture and light alone hold ninety seconds? That question cannot be asked inside client work, where every second is expected to say something.

The material and typography study that came out of it maps directly onto brand idents and title design.
