About the Film
Ser — a near two-minute AI short film. Sitting at the poetic end of the portfolio.
What is in the film
A gallery room. Framed works line the walls and blurred figures move between them. Two characters hold the foreground: a man with a shaved head and round glasses, and beside him a woman with dark hair in a sharp bob. Both are dressed in black.
He looks toward the lens; she is turned to him. A subtitle carries a line of dialogue — this film moves on speech rather than image. The light is cold and low, the gallery fixtures catching the faces from the side.
The hard part
A scene carrying dialogue is a completely different job from a scene carrying atmosphere. Mouth movement matching the voice, the timing of the listening character's reaction, the consistency of the eyeline between two people — all of it has to stay right, without interruption, for a minute and forty-eight seconds.
Holding two characters at once doubles the load. On a single figure a drift in identity can be forgiven; with two, the viewer is constantly comparing, and any drift becomes visible at once.
The gallery setting is not easy either. The works on the back wall had to stay in the same place and the same frame across every shot. With the figures moving, it is the stillness of that wall that carries the reality of the scene.
Why we make films like this
This is not brand work; it is our own narrative experiment. It was made to find out how far a scene of tension can be built this way.
We chose the difficulty deliberately. Dialogue, multiple characters and a fixed location together leave the narrowest margin for error. Rather than doing the easy thing and calling it a success, we would rather do the hard thing and see exactly where it breaks.
The character consistency and speaking-face work that came out of it give us a more controlled foundation for brand films that carry dialogue.
For work like this
We work with teams developing short films, series pilots and narrative-led content. This length is enough to establish a scene and the people in it.
